Epic Grand Half Loop Voyage
A Legendary Journey with Victory Cruise Lines
Why We’re Sailing the Grand Half Loop
John Waggoner
For as long as I’ve been around ships and sailors, I’ve been fascinated by the legendary Great Loop. It’s one of those journeys that lives firmly on people’s bucket lists—a true rite of passage for mariners who dream of tracing North America’s inland waterways, Great Lakes, and coastlines in one epic adventure.
During Victory Cruise Lines’ inaugural season, I met countless boaters in ports along the Great Lakes who were actively planning—or already living—their own Great Loop journeys. Hearing their stories, their challenges, and their sense of accomplishment stayed with me. It sparked a simple question: What if we could offer a version of this legendary route that combines the spirit of the Great Loop with the comfort, care, and camaraderie that define Victory Cruise Lines?
That question is what led us to create our 35-night Grand Half Loop voyage.
A Legendary Route, the Victory Way
We decided to focus on a Grand Half Loop—from Chicago to Jacksonville—because it captures so much of what makes the Great Loop special, while allowing us to deliver it in a way that feels relaxed, immersive, and truly enjoyable.
Sailing from October 17 to November 21, 2026, this voyage aboard Victory I will conclude our second season of exploration following our 2025 debut. It felt right to end the season with something bold, meaningful, and deeply connected to North America’s maritime heritage.
Victory I was purpose-built to navigate the locks of all five Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence Seaway, which makes this journey not only possible, but seamless. From inland waterways to open ocean, she’s designed for exactly this kind of adventure.
What You’ll Experience Along the Way
The journey begins in Chicago on October 18, 2026, sailing through the heart of the Great Lakes. Along the way, we’ll visit ports that many travelers dream of seeing by water—Milwaukee, Escanaba, Mackinac Island, and Sault Ste. Marie—before continuing to Detroit, Cleveland, Toronto, and Montreal.
From there, the voyage continues to Quebec City, through the breathtaking Saguenay Fjords, where whale sightings are often part of the experience, and on to maritime favorites like Charlottetown and Halifax. These are places rich with history, character, and stories that are best appreciated from the water.
As we transition south along the Atlantic Coast, we’ll call on classic New England ports including Portland, Provincetown, Newport, and New London, before heading to Norfolk, Wilmington, Charleston, Savannah, and Brunswick. Each destination adds a new chapter—from colonial towns and working harbors to Southern cities filled with culture and hospitality.
The voyage concludes in Jacksonville, Florida, on November 21, 2026, completing a half-loop that showcases just how diverse and remarkable North America’s waterways truly are.
More Than a Voyage—It’s a Shared Experience
When we designed the Grand Half Loop, we wanted it to feel like more than just a long cruise. This is a journey meant to be shared—with fellow travelers who are just as curious, engaged, and enthusiastic about exploration as you are.
Throughout the voyage, we’ll offer special onboard entertainment, engaging lectures, memorable culinary experiences, and thoughtfully curated activities that reflect the regions we’re sailing through. It’s about learning, connection, and taking the time to truly absorb each place we visit.
And, of course, it all comes with the comforts our guests expect from Victory Cruise Lines: an included shore excursion in every port, regionally inspired cuisine, unlimited beverages, open bars and lounges, Wi-Fi, live entertainment, and a 1-night pre-cruise hotel stay with complimentary transfers.
Why This Journey Matters
For me, the Grand Half Loop represents everything Victory Cruise Lines stands for—thoughtful exploration, meaningful travel, and the belief that how you experience a destination matters just as much as where you go.
If you’ve ever dreamed of tracing North America’s waterways, learning their stories, and doing it in comfort alongside like-minded travelers, I truly believe this voyage offers something special.
I hope you’ll consider joining us on this unforgettable journey.
